about

(PC24) Exmah - Prince Rupert's Ass

Aaron Lubinski is mostly known as the industrial hardcore and breakcore pioneer Xylocaine and one third of Nasenbluten.

Although he's had a few different projects over the years such as Data and the cut up hilarity of Medical Suction. Exmah is the one he describes as "uncomfortable"

Upon being shown a preview of "Prince Rupert's Ass" I told him it's almost like "in store supermarket radio that's not quite right" Like if you heard this album over the speakers at your local Price Gougers Mart you'd stop for a moment and strain your ears to see if...you know..this song?

Before realising it's some type of horrible prank like the young peoples do on the Tik Toks and it's not actually music....or is it?

I told Aaron maybe I could arrange playing this over the PA at the local Tuesday Pension Day at the produce isle shufflers and he said "make sure you get it on video"

So what does it actually sound like? Is it all weird?

Well yes it's weird for those who enjoy weird but it's still beat heavy and even funky weird at times.

What you've come to expect from Xylocaine is still easily recognisable on Exmah's "Prince Rupert's Ass" just that the usual hardcore onslaught is pulled back for something more like anything from early techno to antimusic collage to tribal rhythms to abstract noise to breakcore to...is that reggae? and this is at times all at the same time.

It doesn't really matter what it was. Now it's Exmah. A big chewy stew of sounds, beats, kicks and hilarious out of context or random samples that only Aaron can pull off and still make coherent enough to hold your attention by either entertaining you, moving you or better yet just confusing you.
